K-12 by Elior Relaunches Enhanced Environmental Brand

K-12 by Elior launches its enhanced environmental high school brand that trends with today’s students at Oak Lawn Community High School located in the suburbs of Chicago!  Reinventing these spaces is not only important to presenting attractive exciting menu items, but promotes a dining space that is fresh, modern and timeless.

Vibrant new graphics, merchandizing, and digital signage that feature menus, daily specials, nutritional information and food graphics are among the exciting enhancements.  The new look also encourages healthier eating, learning and, just as important, interaction among diverse groups.

According to Senior Director of Marketing Trent Krupica, developing a unique look to complement extraordinary food experiences was the goal of the K-12 by Elior environmental brand. “The color scheme emphasizes our focus on sustainability, creating an inviting and aesthetically pleasing look to our high school environments.  The new design transformation not only helps to attract students to healthier food but also helps to prepare students for the transition from high school – whether it’s attending higher education, community college or trade schools,” he says.

Vinyl graphics have also been added to popular and highly functional equipment including a new Fresh to Go Market case which offers grab-n-go salads, sandwiches and other snacks.  A mobile “Breakfast on the Go” cart even visits classrooms, fueling students with hot and cold breakfast items including muffins, cereal, granola bars, yogurt and fruit.  According to the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, “grab-and-go” and second chance breakfasts show evidence of success for middle and high school students. Positioning healthier foods in an accessible and attractive way provides students with an alternative option to quickly ‘grab’ a nutritious meal or snack.  “Breakfast participation increased by 61% during the first week of school,” says K-12 by Elior Regional Marketing Manager Khyla Dixon, who was also instrumental in the redesign.

Students also enjoy an expansive salad bar that features multiple fresh produce, toppings and dressings to create a customized salad. “I love all the changes that happened here at Oak Lawn, and the students love it too,” says Oak Lawn Superintendent Joseph McCurdy, who oversees an enrollment of 1,800 students.

Oak Lawn students will also enjoy a new action station which will feature culturally diverse foods that will be made-to-order and prepared in front of students by a chef.

Dining services are led by Food Service Director Ayesha Edwards-Rasul and District Manager Tom Belanger.

“K-12 by Elior’s new branding will only complement what we do best – increase access to and strengthen the school meals programs for our students every day,” says Krupica.
